Fixed:- This file is in unknown format or damaged | WinZip | WinRar

Sometimes, while extracting compressed files, we are presented with an error message.

"This file is in unknown format or damaged"

Many of the times, the file is actually damaged b\due to a variety of reasons including but not limited to the following:-

  • Downloading was interrupted in between
  • The file was not completely downloaded
  • The file contains malware
  • Your system's antivirus detected it as malware and removed some parts of it

While these may be possible causes, the best way is to try re-downloading the file. But it is always a good practice to check once whether your decompressing utility is at fault. Before downloading the file again, follow the below steps which may save you from re-downloading the file.

Head on to Control Panel -> Uninstall a program (under program menu) and uninstall your current compressing software (WinZip or WinRar)

Now download the latest version of WinRar from here. Then install the software by following the setup wizard.

Double click on the compressed file. From the ribbon menu, select the extract to option. Select the destination folder and click Ok in the dialog box that appears.

NOTE:- DO NOT RIGHT CLICK AND SELECT EXTRACT HERE FROM THE DROPDOWN MENU.

If the file was not actually corrupted then it would be successfully extracted. If this method is still not working then it means that you need to re-download your file.

The Rise of Edge Computing: What It Is and Why It Matters

In today's interconnected world, we are generating more data than ever before. From our smartphones and smart homes to our cars and workplaces, devices are constantly collecting and transmitting data. While cloud computing has been the go-to solution for processing and analyzing this data, a new technology called edge computing is gaining popularity. Edge computing is a decentralized computing architecture that brings processing power and storage closer to the source of the data. Rather than sending all the data to a central cloud, edge computing allows data to be processed and analyzed at the edge of the network, which can be a local device, a sensor, or a gateway. This can provide several benefits, including faster processing times, reduced latency, improved security, and lower costs. One of the main advantages of edge computing is its ability to reduce latency. Latency is the time it takes for data to travel from a device to a cloud server and back. In many applications, such
